Frequently asked questions

How do I turn on Roomy?

Open Settings → Apps → Safari → Extensions, select Roomy and turn it on. Then, in Safari, open the extensions menu, tap Roomy and allow website access. The setup guide in the app walks you through each step.

How do I choose options for a website?

While the website is open in Safari, open the extensions menu and tap Roomy. Turn on the options you want — Use full width, Hide bars while reading, Stretch narrow columns. Roomy remembers your choice for that website.

What do the three options do?

Use full width lets the page fill the space beside Safari's controls. Hide bars while reading slides fixed headers and footers away while you scroll down and brings them back when you scroll up. Stretch narrow columns lifts narrow width limits so text uses the full width of the screen.

Where can I change or reset my saved websites?

Open the Roomy app. The website list shows every site you've adjusted with its options — tap one to edit it, or reset it. You can also set default options for websites you haven't configured yet.

Does Roomy work on iPhones other than the iPhone Duo?

Yes. Roomy is designed for the iPhone Duo's front screen, but it works on any iPhone. On other models, “Use full width” mainly makes a difference in landscape; the other two options work in any orientation.

A website still doesn't look right. Why?

Every website is built differently. Some have fixed elements or their own layout limits, so results vary from site to site. Try a different combination of options for that site, or reset it in the app. If a popular site misbehaves, send me the address — I'm happy to take a look.

Why does Roomy need website access?

Safari only lets an extension change how a page is displayed if you allow website access. Roomy uses it only for that. It does not read or send page content or your browsing history.

Does Roomy collect any data?

No. There are no accounts, no analytics and no network requests. Your settings (website names and options) stay on your iPhone. See the privacy policy.

Is there a subscription?

No. Roomy is a one-time purchase.
